The Story of Us

It all begins with a instant message...on a dating app...

We met on OKCupid and people say those things don’t work. LOL. He lived in Ohio and she lived in Michigan. Anthony came across Julie’s profile one day and wrote out a thoughtful message. He waited a few days and got a message back when Julie finally logged into the app. We chatted for several weeks, sometimes until late at night, realizing we had so much in common.

Eventually he asked her if she would meet him for dinner. He picked a lovely steakhouse in Toledo (halfway in between) and she found a bourbon bar to have a pre-dinner drink due to both their love for bourbon (his) and Scottish whisky (hers). It was evident very quickly that the match was a good one. We were the only first date the server had ever had in that steakhouse and was shocked when she asked what we were celebrating. Her name was also Julie.

Anthony invited Julie down to his house for the next weekend, which was Labor Day weekend 2023. Yes, 2023, when Julie met Mallory, Anthony’s daughter, for the first time…on the second date.

From there it has been history. We travel back and forth every other weekend and have spent at least 4 days a week together since we met. We’ve been to a weekend bourbon festival, to NYC for a week long work trip for Julie, and up to the Lakehouse that is on a Great Lake in the UP (Upper Peninsula of MI) to just start sharing our love for travel. Most weekend you can find us in the kitchen and if you’re local, you might have even been gifted some of our creations. Many serious conversations happened in both our kitchens and after a whirlwind of a day literally chasing down the engagement ring he designed for Julie, he proposed right in the kitchen…technically on date 16.

We are happy that you are joining us celebrate the love for which we both searched and waited for a long time.
